Warehouse and ERP software for food and beverage distributors

Every case has a lot code and a best-by date, and someone will eventually ask where a lot went.

Food distributors rotate stock by expiry, handle temperature-controlled goods and sell to buyers who ask for traceability. South Florida also moves a large volume of food to and from Latin America and the Caribbean, which adds export documents to the daily work.

§ 01Where it hurts

Problems we plan for in this industry

Finding where a lot went
Lot codes written on paper receiving sheets make a recall search a manual job.
Rotation by eye
Short-dated stock sits behind fresher stock because picking is not directed by expiry date.
Customer shelf-life rules
Some customers reject anything under a minimum remaining shelf life.
Shrink and write-offs
Expired stock, damaged cases and count differences are found late.
§ 02What we build

What a project usually includes

Your project includes only the parts that pay off for you.

  • Lot, best-by date and supplier capture at receiving, with pallet labels
  • FEFO picking with customer minimum shelf-life rules
  • Hold and release of suspect lots with one action
  • Forward and backward lot trace with an exportable report
  • Temperature and handling flags on locations and products
  • Catch-weight and case/each conversions
§ 03Details that matter here

Details that matter in this industry

FSMA 204 traceability
The FDA's food traceability rule requires additional records for foods on its Food Traceability List. The compliance date is July 20, 2028. It requires key data elements at critical tracking events such as receiving, transformation and shipping. We build the lot-level records; which of your products are covered is a regulatory question for your compliance lead.
Beverage alcohol
Alcohol distribution sits under state three-tier rules with their own reporting. We scope that separately and only after reviewing the requirements for your state.
