BP-07 · ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIO

One inventory across channels, with returns tied to stock

A seller sells through its own storefront and two marketplaces, and ships from one warehouse and one store.

This is an illustrative scenario written by SALES TEC to show our approach. It is not a description of a real client, and it contains no results.

§ 01The problem

Channels oversell because stock updates lag. Returns are refunded but restocked wrongly, and margin ignores marketplace fees.

§ 02How we would approach it
  1. 01Hold one available-stock number with a buffer per channel, and reserve stock when the order is placed.
  2. 02Route each order to the best fulfillment location and send confirmed shipments and tracking back to the channel.
  3. 03Take returns through a disposition step: restock, refurbish or scrap, with a reason code.
  4. 04Attribute channel fees, shipping and returns to margin at SKU level.
§ 03How we would measure success

Measures of success

  • Oversell cancellations
  • Days from return receipt to restock decision
  • Stock sync delay
  • Margin by channel and SKU
